At-Home Exercises to Build Muscle

Many of us don’t have the time to leave the house and go to the gym every day. However, that’s not a good excuse that should prevent us from getting a good workout. There are many different exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home to build muscle and lose weight. You don’t need a gym, or even expensive equipment, to get good exercise and to work towards your ideal body. Copper Fit invites you to consider some of the many great exercises that you can do right at home:

Basic

Copper Fit Home ExercisesPushups

Pushups are a fundamental exercise that can be done anywhere. The great part about pushups is there are so many different variations you can do to work different parts of the body (wide, diamond, pike, etc.)

Planks

Planks are another great fundamental exercise that helps build a strong core. If you’re not familiar with planks, all you do is lay on your stomach with your forearms against the ground and rise up into a plank position, keeping your back straight and your behind down. The longer you hold it, the more it will burn!

Dips

Dips are a great exercise that help build muscle in your arms and chest. You can perform a dip in between any two stable objects. If you have trouble doing a dip with both feet off the floor, leaning on a chair or couch with your feet out in front of you is a good start.

Advanced

Jump Lunge

Jump lunges are a great workout for your quads and hamstrings. You begin by jumping up and landing in a lunge position. From that position, jump up again and switch your front and back legs. It may take a while to get your balance but it’ll be worth it. If you have a couple light dumbbells, try holding them for increased resistance.

Burpees

Burpees are an exercise that really works your whole body. To do a burpee you start in the standing position. The first movement is to squat and put your hands to the floor and kick your legs back into the pushup position. Next, do a pushup and kick your feet back into the starting position. Lastly, perform a frog jump as high as you can. When you land, you will be back in the original position. This exercise could take a little while to perfect, but once you have it down, you’ll really start to feel it.

It’s a still a new year and it’s time to stop making excuses and to start building muscle at home today. You can work out at home using your own body weight just as effectively as you can at a gym.
